Subdiffusion
Subdiffusion is the production alter-ego of Bristol based Jon Richards.
I first started writing electronic music back in 1993 - the same year I went to
my first rave. Inspired by the emerging dance music scene and the breakthrough local
acts that were taking the world by storm; Massive Attack, Portished, Tricky and
Reprezents, I began honing my production skills. In 2000 I joined forces with Mathew
Carter and Laura Pearce to form Subdiffusion as a live Drum & Bass act. After five
years and some knockout gigs at underground parties, as well as sharing the stage
with some of the scenes heavyweights, we went our separate ways.
Since completing my degree in Creative Music Technology, I have been working with
talented people from across the world, remixing and producing tracks for artists
such as Foniqz, Vicky Flint, Nel K and Queenie Moy.
I don’t constrict myself by sticking to one genre of music or fanatically following
a ‘scene’. The only consistent thread to my work is bass – and plenty of it.
